Dates: From 2012-06-12 to 2012-07-11

Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Venue: across the south west

Following first cut silage provides a tremendous opportunity to make use of the nutrient content of organic manures and save money growing second cut. The demonstration events will look at slurry and manure analysis, and application techniques to optimise crop uptake, including injection and trailing shoe systems. The role of soil conditions in facilitating the use of slurry and the management and alleviation of compaction will also be considered.

Events will run from 10am to approximately 1pm and include lunch.

These FREE workshops will aim to:

provide practical training on grassland and nutrient management to optimise the value of nutrients supplied by organic manures, achieve savings in fertiliser costs and reduce diffuse pollution from agriculture.
demonstrate the benefits of good soil structure to drainage, nutrient uptake, root growth and ultimately grass yields.
discuss and demonstrate different slurry applications and soil management techniques.
demonstrate how to assess soil structure and management techniques to avoid and alleviate soil compaction in grassland. To include: low ground pressure tyres and grassland subsoilers.
clarify NVZ record keeping regarding recording manure application and manure management plans
potential sources of grant aid for improved technology
Booking is essential for these workshops, please phone 0845 3713399, or email
