Recipe for natural insect repellent

Recipes for natural insect repellent:

Using a base of unscented body lotion, in those little trial size squeeze bottles you can buy at the drugstore, put in a few drops each of these essential oils:

*pennyroyal
*cedarwood
*lime or lemongrass or some other citrusy smell,
(I personally hate citronella, but it works)

This is your basic mix.
Personalize it for yourself or others (makes great gifts), using:

*bay (great for men)
*frankincense (my choice)
*lavender (the only flower that doesn't attract mosquitos?)
*bergamot (Nancy's choice)
*sandalwood (if you can afford it, yikes!)

Just don't use anything floral or sweet, to attract male mosquitos.

CAUTION ::: For pregnant women or animals, or those who wish to become pregnant,
do not use pennyroyal, substitute peppermint.

I usually mix up a big batch of the basic three with a pint of lotion in a big squeeze bottle, at the beginning of summer, then put it in several smaller bottles with personalized variations for all my friends and family, giving some away at parties and picnics early in the summer. That way, everyone is
protected from bugs, and I don't have to smell noxious chemicals which set of my allergies.

There ain't no bugs on me!
