HISTORY
Transition North Cornwall Ltd was registered on 8th November 2008 as a company limited by Guarantee. It was started by the Steering Group of Transition North Cornwall Society to replace the Society and take on all its functions in order to protect members from the unlimited personal financial liability associated with the unincorporated society structure. The change occured on 23rd March 2009.
The original Transition North Cornwall Society was constituted on the 29th March 2008.
Both the company and the society held their AGM on 23rd March 2009, where the company's plans were approved and the society disbanded.
The Society disbanded with a large majority backing from existing members. However a small minority of members who opposed the closing down of the Society, have organised and held another meeting on 12th May 2009. This meeting has re-confirmed the decision of the Society members to close the Society down.
TNC Ltd currently has over 40 members and more than 350 friends on our email list. Its structure and main functions are detailed in its constitution.

TransitionNC Minutes 6
Transition North Cornwall (TransitionNC)
Minutes 6
Minutes of the Transition North Cornwall Steering Group held at Mark’s, Bodmin on Tuesday 6th May 2008 at 7pm.
Present: Paul Sousek (chair), Jonathan Stocks (minutes), Mark Norman, Peter McGregor (arrived late), Traci Lewis, Jackie Carpenter (arrived late). Observers: Ron Muckleston (arrived late)
Apologies: none
Meeting started at 19:50 due to number of late arrivals.
1. Selection of a minutes secretary
Jon Stocks selected
2. Post mortem on Event: Megan Quinn, Bodmin, 29th March
Out of 42 attendees 8 were new to Transition. Much of the meeting was taken up by analyzing why we have not attracted larger numbers, so that we can learn the lessons for future events.
Posters: Traci has not circulated the poster and one was not available at the meeting. The poster mentioned ‘the twin threats of PO and CC’ and ‘Megan Quinn, Power of Community – How Cuba coped with PO’. About 30 posters were distributed in Bodmin, local shops, post office, holiday camp, bike shop, etc, and 5 in Wadebridge. It was agreed that was more than enough.
Action: Traci – circulate poster
Email: Traci reported some 1500 (!) emails sent, mainly to Transition contacts, Network Cornwall, and others
Action: Traci – circulate text of email
In an ideas session, the following points came up as possible improvements for next time:
· Minimum 3 weeks/ 1 month notice required
· Include in events diaries (newspapers, websites)
· Include on website
· Plan a whole schedule of events
· Study Transition Handbook for ideas
· Put subject of talk into context – not just one idea
· What’s in it for you – benefits for attendees
· Personal leaflet deliveries – very time consuming, but may be possible in smaller communities
· Publicity – concentrate on one town/ location at a time
· Marketing AIDA (Attract, Interest, Desire, Action)
· Start with easy targets
· Use current issues
3. Yahoo group for Transition NC Steering Group (Jon)
No discussion
4. Skype trial

Paul reported some progress: some changes from Jackie and Peter’s comments. Meeting expressed surprise that website was on line. Paul explained that he needed it on line to continue construction of technical features. Also website not promoted and has had no visitors.
6. Transition Towns Network

7. Event: Green Fair 2008, 28th June, Wadebridge

9. Any Other Business
Paul reported £50 in contributions from members – handed over to Jon.
Jackie reported she was thinking of leaving Steering Group
Peter reported that he will be very busy over the next couple of months and unable to contribute
Jackie thought that we should not undertake any more public presentations. Jon agreed, Paul disagreed, no other opinions expressed
Cornwall Sustainable Strategy: We decided it would be a good idea to comment on the document (to be circulated by Peter). No clear way forward was agreed on how to make a joint comment. We could make a response using words from the Transition Handbook. Action: all to read and propose comments. (Note: Peter cannot comment because he has a conflict of interest.)
Meeting started late and unable to conclude all business. Remaining points to be discussed next time.
10. Future events
· Paul Mobbs: He has offered the dates of 1st or 3rd July. Traci was asked to circulate the email. There was no-one at the meeting prepared to organise the event. If we think of a way to do it, it can be arranged by a smaller group. Action: Traci to circulate email
· Wadebridge Green Fair: Transition NC has a stand booked. It is on June 28th. Need posters and a stand and leaflets.
11. Registering Transition North Cornwall : Peter reported that Ben Brangwyn has not replied. Peter has identified a section in the handbook on how to qualify. We probably don’t qualify yet. Action: Peter to circulate the page about qualification.
12. Next meeting
