JAZZ CAFE AT THE MOVIES

CORNISH CIDER FESTIVAL
Saturday 17th October. The annual cider festival at Lostwithiel is now in its seventh glorious year and an established fixture in the Southwest’s festival calendar, attracting cider and music lovers from across the regional and beyond. www.cornishciderfestival.co.uk

COMMUNITY APPLE DAY

Apple Pressing Demos... Bring your apples and containers... 30p per litre charge. Meet the Caradon Orchard Project Local Produce and everything apple.. lunches.. wildlife and history group displays … A nice Autumn Day out.

BOOKS AT THE CENTRE RAISING FUNDS
Lostwithiel Community Centre has a wonderful range of second hand books... History, novels, gardening and cookery... And now a large section of childrens books.
50p paperbacks and £1 hard backs
Over £500 has been raised so far. Various volunteers try to keep up with the many books which are donated, but it would be great to have someone who would take this on and visit the books once a week to tidy them, put new ones out and generally sort them out when needed - if it would interest you to take care of the books please contact the Centre 01208 872207

USE A SHOPPING BAG - PLASTIC BAGS ARE RUBBISH
Did you know that from 5th October by law large retailers must charge at least 5p for single-use plastic carrier bags? Small or medium-sized business don’t have to charge, but can do so voluntarily.
On average, UK residents use 11.0 thin gauge bags a month each. Those in England and Scotland are the greatest consumers, according to WRAP data, using 11.7 and 10.3 respectively, while Wales (2.1) and Northern Ireland (1.6) have decreased their average usage greatly since introducing carrier bag charges.
