Transition Lostwithiel e-news - February 2015

Transition Lostwithiel e-news

Many trees are now adopted by local people in the town ….. over 30 trees were given and we are also supporting Lostwithiel Town School with their great work on a Forest Classroom and the Gardeners Club .. making it real for many young children

There will be a page on our web site dedicated to Transition Lostwithiel Town Tree Arboretum and we are applying to the Woodland Trust for more trees..

as trees are being cut down all through the valley of Lostwithiel we aim to replace at least some for the future and to help with wildlife habitats which are being lost and help with water run-off when new developments take place

In 2014 we were given a great deal of wool – thank you to all those who sorted out their cupboards! We have used a lot of the wool to make designer knits which are steadily being sold … the proceeds will be spilt between ‘Lost in Play’ and The Philippine Community Fund

Some of the donated wool has been given to other projects in town, such as the premature babes knitting, the fish and chip blanket project and the Syrian Appeal

The project will be ongoing and will continue into next year with regular updates

Thank you also to all the lovely knitters .. the project is well underway.., thanks to the help of Amanda and Jane at 2 Quay Street who have been a collection point and also selling the items .. we have raised £200 so far..

If you are a knitter and would like to give some time and donate your skill please ring Lesley Bower 873363 … wool and pattern supplied

… or drop into 2 Quay St on a Woolly Wednesday…

Thankyou to the volunteers who staffed the hot cider stall at Dickensian Night... Funds raised will be donated to :
- Transition Lostwithiel £60
- Mayors Fund £60
- Lost in Play £60
Many thanks to Rupert Warwick and Lee Cornish of the Cornish Cider Festival for the donation of the cider.

Gardeners Market Saturday April 11th 10-3pm - free packet of seeds / plants / willow weaving / knife grinding / the Tea Lady / demonstrations / and much more! Young Farmers will be selling manure on the day.

This is a survey being undertaken by the RHS:

Thought for the month: A ship is safe in the harbour … but that's not what ships are for.
