4Feb2012: forum on the future of the NHS

A local group, Just Desserts, is hosting a forum on the future of the NHS at the Crackington Institute on Feb. 4, at 2 pm.

No one seems to know what impact the government's proposed changes will have, or what anyone can do about them, and the forum's speakers will fill in some of the gaps in our knowledge. There will be time for questions and comments from the audience.

As an American who's lived most of my life with no national health system, I'm painfully aware of the danger that privatising all or part of the NHS carries, and I'm worried about what effect this bill will have. Above all, though, I want to understand what's in it, and almost no one I know seems sure, although everyone seems to agree that its effects will be deep and long-lasting.

Information about the forum is below, and I've attached a leaflet with the same information in a more readable form.

I hope you can come.
