2Feb2012:How to create an online voice for your community

How to create a powerful online voice for your community

Questions & Answers CIC invite you to a free workshop during which you will learn ways to create a powerful online voice for your community.
As part of our ‘Switch on Cornwall’ project, we have arranged for the ‘talk about local’ team to visit
Cornwall and deliver one of their inspiring workshops to local groups, community activists and local
organisations.

The workshop will cover the following topics:
? What are online community networks and how to make the most of them.
? How a simple, free online community website can be used effectively for a wide variety of
issues, from local community activism and politics to organising local sports or arts groups,
or simply talking passionately about your interests online.
? How to create a simple, free website using wordpress.com.
? Making a Wordpress community website come alive - Some hints and tips for structure,
layout and content.
? Keeping it legal - hints, tips and links around defamation and copyright.
? Using Facebook for community discussion – how people use Facebook to reach and engage
with local people.
? How Facebook might best be used for building and developing local networks.
? Different ways of working with Facebook - the characteristics of Facebook profiles, pages,
groups and events.

The workshop will be held at The Elms, 61 Green Lane, Redruth. TR15 1LS
And is running on the 2nd February - 10.30 - 2.30
Tea and coffee will be included - there is no parking onsite but plenty of side road
